The media are a vehicle for silence, which the arts must reveal. Faced with everyday information, most of us look away. We complain endlessly but don’t want to feel involved or implicated. Artists reconstruct fundamental notions and use temporal, spatial, formal, and technical elements to retrieve the power of the image beyond its own crisis.
